About Make A Prayer

Editorial policy

The short version: nothing is invented, everything names its source, and nobody unqualified signs anything.

The rules we hold ourselves to

  1. Never invent a prayer and present it as traditional.
  2. Every canonical text carries its source, translator and rights status.
  3. Rights-clean corpus only. Rights and permissions.
  4. Never manufacture activity. No fabricated requests, no simulated counts.
  5. A displayed count means what it says.
  6. No political alignment, stated or implied, in any tradition.
  7. Never gamify another person’s suffering.
  8. The person who writes a request chooses who sees it.
  9. A review is a signature on a version, not on a name.
  10. A person may sign several review dimensions only where their recorded credentials independently qualify them for each.

Corrections

A correction to reviewed material is not a quiet edit. Changing the substance of a published page invalidates every signature on it, the page comes down, and it returns only once the new version has been signed again.

That is deliberate. The alternative is a page still displaying a reviewer’s name and credentials above text they never saw, which is worse than carrying no attribution at all.

If you have found something wrong, tell us. Errors in religious material are treated as urgent.

Who decides what

Editorial staff decide what to work on, what a page should cover, and whether the prose is clear. They do not decide whether a tradition has been represented accurately. That is signed by someone credentialed in the tradition, and an editor cannot substitute for it. How review works.

Changes we would rather make than defend

If a practitioner tells us the review model is wrong, that a field is missing, or that something should not be published at all, we would rather change the architecture than ask them to work around it. That has already happened twice, and both times the content found the error before any design review did.
